Казалось бы, после выхода в свет в 78-ом году довольно слабого "Octave" и ухода одного из основателей и ключевого звена группы, каковым являлся клавишник Майк Пиндер, группе больше не суждено было записать достойный альбом в духе психоделического арт-рока. Но! Все эти сомнения развеевает вышедший в 81-ом году концептуальный альбом "Long Distance Voyager", записанный уже с новым клавишником - Патриком Морацом, известным благодаря сотрудничеству с группой Yes и принимавшим участие в записи их альбома "Relayer" (1974).

Стоит отметить следующие номера: остросоциальную "Question" Джастина - хит номер 2 в британских чартах, что говорит об изменении музыкальных структур и попытке создавать песни уровня больших - стадионных - концертных выступлений. Самая интересная, пожалуй, на альбоме песня - "Melancholy Man" Майка Пиндера: музыка и текст её настолько темпераментны, что стоит дослушать композицию буквально до середины, и вот уже мысли витают в облаках - философские рассуждения о жизни овладевают тобой, не без помощи вокала творца этой песни, конечно же (особенно в припеве). Любителям психоделики того периода, из тех, кто не знаком с творчеством данной группы, будет, чем насладиться.

Два следующих года также оказались весьма удачными — вышли два новых альбома: Every Good Boy Deserves Favour (1971 год, позиции #1 и #2 в чартах Великобритании и США, соответственно) и Seventh Sojourn (1972 год, позиции #5 и #1 в чартах Великобритании и США, соответственно). Запись последнего альбом далась довольно трудно, и участники группы чувствовали себя измученными. Поэтому весной 1974 года, после завершения большого мирового турне, которое завершилось в Азии, группа решила сделать перерыв, который продолжился до 1977 года. "Days of Future Passed" - второй альбом группы The Moody Blues, и в то же время первый альбом, где музыканты обрели то звучание, благодаря которому в дальнейшем приобрели известность по всему миру. На протяжении всего альбома звучит симфонический оркестр под руководством дирижера Питера Найта, и на данном альбоме именно это является ключевой основой, ну, собственно, и довольно интересная концепция, составленная участниками группы. Как говорят многие музыкальные критики, и я с ними вынужден полностью согласиться, работа является одной из самых удачных попыток скрестить рок-музыку с симфоническими аранжировками, вследствие чего это заложило основу в образование так называемого "прогрессивного рока", или как его ещё называют - "арт-рока";

Last month Universal Music’s enormous Moody Blues Timeless Flight 17-disc super deluxe box set was released, and like a few recent box sets (Wings Over America, Smashing Pumpkin’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness) it retails at well over £100 (nearer to £200 on amazon UK at the time of writing).
Unlike those sets, Timeless Flight celebrates an entire career, and Mark Powell (who researched, compiled and produced this set) has done an incredible job in terms of the audio within (14 discs of it, including three DVDs with six albums in 5.1 surround sound), the video content (a further three DVDs) and the supporting content of which the 124-page hardback book is the outstanding element.
The book is one of the very best we’ve seen in a super deluxe music set, with a seemingly endless amount of archive photography, sitting alongside words which tell the story of the band.

The Other Side of Life is the twelfth studio album by English progressive rock band the Moody Blues, released in April 1986 by Polydor Records.
This was the first Moody Blues album since 1978's Octave, and only the second since 1969's On the Threshold of a Dream, not to be released by their custom label, Threshold Records. Beginning with this album, and continuing through 1999's Strange Times, albums would be branded "in association with Threshold Records".

In Search of the Lost Chord is the third album by the Moody Blues, released in July 1968 on the Deram label.
The success of the band's previous record, Days of Future Passed, allowed the group additional studio time and creative flexibility in crafting a follow-up album. At the time, keyboardist Mike Pinder told the Melody Maker, "Albums give us a chance to experiment with new ideas. And buyers realize they offer more than just music to dance to. They can sit down and listen – get away on a trip of musical exploration." Guitarist Justin Hayward recalled that In Search of the Lost Chord "was when I feel we found our soul and direction. It was when everything gelled musically."
