Выпустив свой альбом "CRYING OF THE WHALES" ребята собрали множество лестных отзывов,а также специальный приз от GreenPeace. Все это было очень трогательно. Но, как правило, такие проекты при всей помпезности настораживали, ибо в них собственно музыка всегда отходила на второй план.

Вопреки установившемуся мнению, что для раскрытия потенциала необходимо энное количество альбомов, Riverside делают нехилый замах на монстров прог-рока уже первым альбомом. Странно, то же количество нот, те же инструменты, где-то уже слышанный вокал (Anathema, Porcupine Tree, вот только отдельные порыкивания на грани гроула - это свое, риверсайдовское), но вот полученный на выходе результат навевает ассоциации то ли с магией, то ли с алхимией, секреты которых знают участники группы.
Этот альбом - самый легкий у группы, гитара почти везде играет одна, без ритм-прокладки, и лишь редкие срывы вокалиста показывают, откуда у музыкантов-то уши растут. А растут они из дэт-металла! Да-да, эта очень легкая, воздушная смесь пинкфлойдовского звучания и позднего анафемного вокала сделана бывшими участниками дэтовых коллективов!

Первый альбом проекта Dvar, "Piirrah", вышел в 2002-м году в Италии на лейбле Radio Luxor, известном по релизам таких артистов "темной сцены", как Kirlian Kamera и Legendary Pink Dots. Стиль darkwave в исполнении Dvar явился крайне патологической музыкой: жесткая электроника с истерическими "гномоподобными" вокалами и неофолковым мелодизмом. Вкупе с конспирацией, мистическим концептом и "выдуманным" языком, музыка производила сильное воздействие. Некоторыми критиками подобная мозаика была названа "электронным black metal", меломаны же со стажем разглядели здесь своеобразный коктейль из The Residents, Das Ich, RelatIves Mneschsein и Diamanda Galas.

Antimatter - очень многогранный коллектив, который с помощью своей музыки старается поделиться со слушателем своим состоянием души, своими чувствами, мыслями. Музыка чарует, восхищает и заставляет переживать. Она становится проводником в ваш собственный внутренний мир. Музыка Antimatter уникальна и неповторима, редко можно услышать такую искренность в песнях, в каждую свою работу парни вкладывают частичку себя, что отражается на их творчестве.

Теперь конечно всем известно авторство, точнее, ответственного за этот "бардак", ныне известный товарищ, гуру прог-металла, легендарный голландский прог-музыкант Арьен Энтони Лукассен. Lucassen является-рок композитором, певцом, мульти-инструменталистом и продюсером, самый известный из его проект - Ayreon. "Странное хобби" выбыло из печати в течение более десяти лет и в настоящее время очень востребованный пункт коллекционеров. К счастью для поклонников, наконец, в честь 20-летия, этот диск в 2016 году был переиздан, на этот раз уже безо всякой тайны. Это издание включает в себя четыре бонус-трека,которые ранее не были доступны на CD. Об этом переиздании Арьен сказал:-"Ещё в 1996 году мне было так весело записывать Strange Hobby! Было здорово отдохнуть от записи моих сложных, напыщенных айреонских прог-экстравагантностей и выпустить пар, выпустив эти рок-кавер-версии моих любимых песен шестидесятых годов. Я надеюсь, вам понравится слушать этот психоделический взрыв из прошлого так же, как мне понравилось записывать его! Круто!

Вот теперь настало время Guilt Machine. Который от основного детища Лукассена отличается лишь масштабом, а если точнее, то сильным его уменьшением. Всего трое музыкантов, всего один вокалист, всего 6 песен (4 из которых, правда, длиной за 10 минут). А вот стиль остался тот же, рука Арьена чувствуется в каждой ноте, а электронные эффекты и синтезаторы так вообще в полном составе переползли сюда из последнего (на данный момент времени) альбома Ayreon. Каждый может воспринимать этот факт и как плюс, и как минус. «Тот самый вкус!» - порадуются поклонники. «Ayreon для бедных!» — заклеймят позором разочаровавшиеся. И в чём-то правы будут и те, и другие.

Vanilla Fudge is an American rock band known predominantly for their slow extended heavy rock arrangements of contemporary hit songs, most notably "You Keep Me Hangin' On".
The band's original line–up — vocalist and organist Mark Stein, bassist and vocalist Tim Bogert, lead guitarist/vocalist Vince Martell, and drummer and vocalist Carmine Appice — recorded five albums during the years 1967–69, before disbanding in 1970. The band is currently touring with three of the four original members: Stein, Martell, and Appice with Pete Bremy on bass as Bogert retired in 2009.

Forever Changes is the third studio album by the American rock band Love, released by Elektra Records in November 1967. It was the final album recorded by the original band lineup; after its completion, Bryan Maclean left the group acrimoniously and the other members were dismissed by leader Arthur Lee. The album saw the group embrace a subtler, folk-oriented sound and orchestration, while primary songwriter Lee explored darker themes alluding to mortality and his creeping disillusionment with the 1960s counterculture.

Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd is the fourth compilation album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 5 November 2001 by EMI internationally and a day later by Capitol Records in the United States. It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 album chart on 24 November 2001, with sales of 214,650 copies. It remained on the chart for 26 weeks. The album was certified Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum on 6 December 2001 in the US by the RIAA. It was certified Triple Platinum in the US on 8 January 2002, and Quadruple Platinum on 10 September 2007.

During my time at ProgPower Europe 2019, I heard a lot of chat about a band called Thoughts Factory. I’d never heard of them before but when there’s a buzz about a band at this great festival, I tend to sit up and take notice because the punters know their music. Regrettably my inability to get to bed at a reasonable hour on any night in Baarlo meant that I missed the impromptu listening session that was set up to hear this record. Nevertheless, I made it my mission to ensure that I checked out Thoughts Factory when time allowed.

Leeds 6-piece frog-rock groovers Shaku have self released their debut album Maku, as the album is a divine representation of their creativity and musicianship which shines through even more so in their stellar live performances.
The group have a fantastic genre-fluid identity that sees them slip down the cracks between Canterbury scene prog, classic blues, funk-rock, UK jazz and epic old school rock. Having interviewed them back in May 2019, the band were ready back then to record after two years of relentless gigging, warfare, bloodshed and liquid consumption, and they did so live at The Nave Studios, Pudsey, and also in a living room in Burley. The theme of the album is a timeline of Shaku, covering a lot of musical and lyrical ground that each represent a different period in the band which has evolved over time, both together as a group and as individuals.

Italy has always been a prime center for music, from the days of classical all the up to the modern day. SECRET ALLIANCE confirms my opinion with their outer cosmic Progressive Hard Rock album “Solar Warden”. SECRET ALLIANCE was founded by guitarist Gianluca Galli (SILVER HORSES & MANTRA) initially as his solo project, but found he was wanting to create music with some extra complexity involved. He recruited the incredible Ricardo Confessori (ex-ANGRA) and fantastic hard rock bassist Tony Franklin to round out the constant members in every song. There are many guest musicians on this futuristic/sci-fi inspired album including Frank Gambale (CHICK COREA BAND) and Alex Masi. These great musicians create a futuristic world in sound.

Gregg Olson and Scarlet Hollow have returned with what may well be the band’s best work to date.

Plus 33 are an instrumental band forged by some musical talents from Strasbourg (France) and Newcastle upon Tyne (UK). The band, led by Didier Grillot (Outside), combines 70s prog rock, jazz and classical influences.
