Идея создания "Circle II Circle" принадлежала бывшему фронтмэну "Savatage" Заку Стивенсу. Для первого альбома он сочинял материал с "Savatage" Джоном Оливой. Пройдя репетиционный период, Стивенс со своей командой решил завершить дело контрактом и взялся рассылать демки по различным лейблам.В мае 2002-го выбор был сделан в пользу немецкой "AFM Records". Уже в сентябре 2002-го группа приступила к записи "Watching In Silence". Альбом попал на прилавки весной 2003-го, а группа тем временем отправилась в промо-турне, в течение которого поиграла с "Saxon", "Dionysus" и "Doro"."Watching In Silence" вызвал шквал хвалебных рецензий в "тяжелых" изданиях и многие обозреватели прикрепили к "Circle II Circle" звание "Best Newcomer Act". В ряде стран работа вошла в тройку лидеров и продажи дисков шли на высоком уровне.
