Daniel Guichard was born in 1948, raised in Paris in the '50s, and has actually dragged out the image of an old-fashioned Parisian boy, including every cliché about it, starting with a strong accent. His gentle personality was quite well reflected in his songs, most of which are about tenderness, loss, love, and nostalgia. He started singing in Montmartre cabarets in the '60s, covering Bruant, Edith Piaf, and other French legends, and got signed pretty quickly by Barclay, for which he had been working as a packer.

Великолепный альбом! Проходные вещи отсутствуют вообще, а присутствует лишь великолепный мелодичный хард-рок от признанных мастеров жанра. Голос Клауса Майне не стареет, а песни типа "Maybe I Maybe You" напомнят о великолепных классических балладах "Скорпов". Мелодичные хард-песни "Deep And Dark", "My City My Town" и другие дополняют целостную картину весьма удачного альбома от ветеранов мировой рок-сцены. Старички еще покажут!....

В качестве резюме могу сказать, что основой привлекательности музыки “Yello” и альбома “Stella” в частности является чёткая ритмическая основа: слушаешь, а тело так и просится броситься в диковатый пляс. Диковатый – потому что ритмы необычные и, в то же время, простые, находящие отклик в душе и телесах слушателя. :-) Вместе с тем на альбоме много красивых мелодий и изобретательных гитарно-электронных пассажей. “Stella” – это гремучая смесь сэмплеров, мужских, женских голосов и, самое главное, истинно швейцарской педантичности в выстраивании музыкальных конструкций. Слушать и ещё раз слушать!

На мой взгляд, лучший альбом в стиле «тяжелый трэш». Никакие Слейеры и Криэйторы такого опуса сотворить не смогли. Это тот случай, когда агрессия, энергия, мелодизм, техника игры, вокал и все остальное находятся в идеальном соотношении.Сильнейшие, бескомпромисснейшие вещи. Заглавная вещь – просто умопомрачение! Никакого примитивизма – все гениальное просто. Прогресс по сравнению с “Beneath The Remains” более чем очевиден. На предыдущем альбоме имела место некоторая композиционная необузданность – все песни чрезвычайно походили друг на друга. На “Arise” вещи более продуманные, нет излишней разнообразности (слишком частой смены ритмов и мелодий), благодаря чему каждая вещь целостна и закончена.
