The Unforgiving is the fifth studio album by Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation, released by Roadrunner Records on 29 March 2011. It was a concept album as one part of a transmedia storytelling project, which accompanied the release of three short films and a series of six comic books. The album followed the band's pattern of incorporating new musical elements on each release, this time marking a major transition point for the band and featuring more pop and 80s influences. Lyrically, the band focused on telling a story with specific characters, also present in the films and comic books.

Mother Earth is the second studio album by Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation. Originally released on 24 December 2000 in the Netherlands, and 21 August 2001 in other parts of Europe. The album was licensed to be released in Germany and neighboring countries through GUN Records in January 2003 as a special extended edition with four bonus tracks. The same edition reached the United Kingdom through Sanctuary Records with a release in September 2004. The album was re-released by Roadrunner Records on 28 September 2007, with bonus live tracks.

Köld is the third studio album by Icelandic post-metal band Sólstafir. It was released on January 21, 2009 through Spinefarm Records. The cover art was done by Guðmundur Óli Pálmason. It was recorded in Gothenburg and all the songs are in English, except the title song "Köld".

Весь материал очень разнообразен и интересен. Грубо говоря, песни представлены в двух ритмах – быстрые и чудовищно медленные, прямо в думовом ключе. При более тщательном прослушивании группа ошарашивает тем, что многие гитарные партии – это передернутые и изуродованные классические хард-роковые, а то и блюзовые партии, помноженные на грайндовую агрессию. Да-да. Именно с этого альбома мы слышим порой откровенно стоунеровские риффы. Что-то вроде позднего Cathedral. Хотел бы я узнать список музыкальных фаворитов Дона Кочино (гитара). А песня «Games of Humiliation» сражает наповал своим полу акустическим финалом с надрывными стонами вокалиста! Вокал на альбоме предельно ироничен, ядовит и разнообразен, да еще и тянет в унисон музыке.

Прослушав весь альбом, до мозга костей проникаешься атмосферой, которую создают лихие ветры PRIMORDIAL. Название пластинки означает посвящение безымянным мертвым, павшим на полях сражений, закончившим жизнь на виселице, и вообще многим, кто пожертвовал собой ради высоких идей или захлебнулся в волнах тирании. Музыка ирландцев неповторима и уникальна – она навивает тревогу и беспокойство, но вместе с тем монолитна и гармонична. Риффы входят в резонанс с ментальными волнами человека и заставляют вдумываться.

Итак, альбом получился жёстче и минималистичнее, нежели их предыдущий "Spirit the Earth Aflame" и совсем уж сильно отличается от того фолк-дума на "Journey's End", главным образом из-за большего акцентирования блэковой составляющей... В итоге по духу мы имеем фолковый ирландский "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss"... Хотя такое сравнение ни коим образом не может точно охарактеризовать сей альбом, ибо аналогов здесь найти просто невозможно. Звук на альбоме стал более мясистым и жёстким, что меня в общем-то удивило, т. к. альбом писался в легендарной Academy Studio,

Ирландцы Primordial издали свой первый альбом еще в 1995-м, но переиздание в России настигло его только 14 лет спустя. За прошедшее время материал хоть и не стал классическим, лишним в биографии коллектива абсолютно точно не смотрится. «Imrama» справедливо относят к неординарным, исключительным произведениям своего времени. На десяти дорожках оригинального диска – узнаваемый Primordial: возвышенный, трагичный, никуда не спешащий, сочетающий в себе блэк-металическую колкость с эмоциональностью и пафосом, характерным для пэган-металической сцены. На данном диске материал еще немного сумбурен и от того только более очарователен, что, возможно, делает его наиболее подходящим для знакомства с отнюдь не самой простой и «доступной» командой. Ведь не зря ирландцы метко назвали свою первую демо-запись «Dark Romanticism», что как нельзя точно подходит для описания их музыки взамен тривиального «doom/pagan».

BIFF BYFORD’S SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS DUE FEBRUARY 21ST 2020. Inimitable singer Russell Allen (Symphony X, Adrenaline Mob) and acclaimed Swedish guitarist, songwriter, and producer Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear, Magnus Karlssons Free Fall) have collaborated successfully on three critically acclaimed albums where Russell dueted with Norwegian singer, Jorn Lande. Touchdown is the eighteenth studio album by German heavy metal band U.D.O., released on August 25, 2023, through Atomic Fire Records. It is the first studio album recorded by U.D.O. to feature Accept bassist Peter Baltes.

U.D.O. has been on a hot streak lately, ever since the early 2000's band ran out of steam with "Rev Raptor" and "Dominator" he reshuffled the deck and got some new players in, it reinvigorated the band. How this man can still churn out such consistantly good Heavy Metal music is a wonder. Hot on the heels of the excellent "Steelfactory" and "We Are One" comes this embarrassment of riches, yes, it runs for more than an hour but after about three listens you realise there is no fat here, every track deserves it's place. There is a strong 80's Accept feel to this album but I enjoy U.D.O. better than the current Accept as it is a lot more fun and his voice sounds fantastic here, as good as it ever was.

This is now the third release from Serious Black that I have reviewed within the pages of manofmuchmetal.com and it is safe to say that the results have been rather varied. 2017’s ‘Magic’ scored highly, as it delivered a very positive and enjoyable slab of melodic heavy metal. ‘Suite 226’, their 2020 offering didn’t hit the same level in my opinion and was ultimately rather disappointing. Always one to maintain an air of optimism, I refused to just turn my back on the band. Instead, I have checked out their sixth full-length release, ‘Vengeance Is Mine’, and have decided to bring you my thoughts on it subsequently.
