Незабываемый первый, одноименный, альбом Borknagar! Крик души и развернутая фолк-блэковая программа в одном лице. Практически совершенная для дебюта работа. Из блэка было выжато максимум, хоть он еще не перестал удовлетворять музыкантов, а фолк-пэгэн-викинг обнаружил скрытые в себе недюжинные силы, начав подтапливать лед огнем былой цивилизации. Экспрессивный черный метал вбирает в себя и сонм мелодий, и атмосферность, и подносит хлеб-соль национальному творчеству. Роскошная жужжащая мелодика, которую несут по миру живительные гитары, не останавливается ни на секунду, ну разве только деликатно тормозит, когда фолк заявляет свои права на слушателя. Акустические партии обнажают уже куда более древние и глубокие корни явления Borknagar как части норвежской культуры. Особая вненациональная искра пронизывает всю музыку диска и заставляет искать что-то свое, родное, среди этих образцов лесопильного дела, а фортепианные интерлюдии с особой торопливой (ограниченной во времени) живописностью призывают мобилизоваться сразу же.

Исключительно бодрый образец американского трэша конца восьмидесятых. Ах, было же время... На дебютнике парней из Канзаса представлен честный и грубый, без особенных заморочек трэш, вызывающий ассоциации с Metallica, Megadeth, Testament и т.п. После, можно сказать, стандартного и клишеобразного нагнетающего атмосферу вступления начинается скоростное молотилово, особенной оригинальностью не отличающееся, но, тем не менее, добротное. Как было верно подмечено, мэтры мэтрами, а настоящий пульс металла в те годы можно было наблюдать именно в глубинке.

Жесткий гитарный риффинг, варирующийся от медленного, почти неразличимого, до скоростного галопа, временами срывающегося в крышесносящие ритмы, оглушающая работа ритм-секции, разносящей направо и налево огненные паутины басовых партий, делающих звучание довольно мрачным и тяжелым, а так же скоростных, почти бластбитных ударных, придающих всему сету насыщенности и бодрости, и, как вишенка на торте, в это вплетается жуткий, почти демонический рык вокалиста, отправляющий душу слушателя в путешествие через все круги ада, и расплавляющий его до Основания!

Abortion is a Slovakian grindcore / mincecore band, whom have become quite well-known within the European grindcore underground. They began in 1989, under name Face of Death (or known F.O.D.), and then in 1990 switched to the named Abortion. After few demo tapes, Abortion released their debut CD "Murdered Culture" in 1998. In the following year, a split with Belgian mincecore legends Agathocles was released, titled "We Never Forget". Original guitarist Picass eventually left the band, but was soon replaced by new guitarist, Chipso.

Хард-роковая команда «April Wine» образовалась в 1969 году. В оригинальный состав вошли три брата Хенмана: Дэвид (гитара), Ричи (ударные) и Джим (вокал, бас), скооперировавшиеся с Майлсом Гудвином (вокал, гитара). Весной 1970-го коллектив перебазировался из провинциального Халифакса в Монреаль, где парням удалось заключить контракт с «Aquarius Records». Уже на первом альбоме Гудвин проявил незаурядный композиторский талант, и его песня «Fast Train» зазвучала на канадских радиостанциях. В конце 1971-го Джима Хенмана сменил Джим Кленч, и группа приступила к работе над второй пластинкой. К сессиям был привлечен продюсер Ральф Мерфи, чьей задачей являлась раскрутка группы до международного уровня. Поставленной цели практически удалось достигнуть, и песня «You Could Have Been A Lady» не только возглавила национальный чарт, но и вошла в биллбордовский Топ 30. Альбом «On Record» получил золото, однако в коллективе разгорелся скандал, и Хенманам пришлось ретироваться.

We Can't Dance is the fourteenth studio album by English rock band Genesis, released on 28 October 1991 by Atlantic Records in the United States and 11 November 1991 on Virgin Records in the United Kingdom. It is their last album recorded with drummer and lead singer Phil Collins before his departure in 1996 to pursue solo projects full time. Production began after a four-year period of inactivity from the group, following the commercial success of Invisible Touch (1986) and its tour.

Turn It On Again: The Hits is a greatest hits album by British progressive rock/pop-rock band Genesis. The album was originally released as a single album on 26 October 1999 by Virgin Records in England and by Atlantic Records in the United States.
In 2007, an expanded two-disc edition, subtitled The Tour Edition, was released to promote the Turn It on Again reunion tour. All of the tracks, except for "The Carpet Crawlers 1999," were remixed by Nick Davis. In addition, the album features more songs from every album in the band's catalogue (minus the live albums and From Genesis to Revelation). Besides the 2-CD version, a 2-CD + 2-DVD version was issued, which included The Video Show DVD and When in Rome DVD.

Following their 1991 We Can't Dance tour, Genesis released two live albums - Genesis Live: The Way We Walk Volume One: The Shorts and Genesis Live: The Way We Walk Volume Two: The Longs. While The Longs was aimed more at the long-term progressive fans, The Shorts was geared more toward the newer 'singles' fans.
I fit into the Longs category. Despite having great live versions of songs such as "No Son of Mine", "Mama", and "Hold on my Heart", this just doesn't do anything for me. I can pretty much do without the Invisible Touch tracks, and there's little of necessity to tracks such as "I Can't Dance" and "That's All". But i'll cut my losses now while i'm ahead. It is, after all, The Shorts, and if i didn't want to hear the shorts, i'd put in The Longs instead, no? Which i will do 10 times out of 10... all the reason i needed to part with this.
Fairly smart move, though... one live CD for the Invisible Touch Club, another for the progheads, and neither has to be bogged down by the 'other' Genesis.

Recording and performing together since the late '70s, Gene Bertoncini and Michael Moore once more undertake the daunting task of making a guitar-bass duet session attractive to listeners without being boring or maudlin. Like their earlier efforts, Two in Time successfully fills the bill. The interesting play list, with a balanced mix of slow and up-tempo tunes, contributes much to making this a satisfying session. The medley of "The Bad and the Beautiful" and "Laura," with most of the players' attention given to the latter, is intriguing in the way that it segues back and forth between Moore's dark, brooding bowing on "Laura" and Bertoncini's upbeat guitar. Moore also bows on "You've Changed" which is a highlight of his introspective but very lyrical approach to the music.
