On two CDs, it consists of a collection of the best of Satriani's electric guitar tracks remastered. It also contains the songs "Slick" and "The Eight Steps", which were previously only available in Japan. Satriani co-produced the album with Jim Scott, with it featuring a "wide variety of styles". The album was preceded by the lead single "Nineteen Eighty". This is Satriani's last album to be released through Sony Music, as he had switched labels to earMUSIC for his next album, The Elephants of Mars (2022).

В целом пластинка не изобилирует какой-то суперритмичностью, которая бы заставляла вашего внутреннего мамонта вытаптывать ямы в полу. Однако на диске есть такие вещи как “In My Pocket” и “San Francisco Blue”, у которых все в порядке с четким как гопота ритмом и яркой пульсацией. Обратные этим песням композиции - “All of My Life” и “Butterfly and Zebra” - легкие, умиротворяющие баллады, растекающиеся как соплячки по Джареду Лето. Если говорить о технике, то Джо старается варьировать, особо не углубляясь в шред. Тем не менее наиболее пилильные композиции - это “Cataclysmic” и “A Phase I'm Going Through”.

Lisa-Marie Ferla of The Arts Desk wrote that The Devil in Me "bursts out of the gate with a title track and string of songs that place it in the same lineage as her 1970s glam rock catalogue, all chugging bass and snarling vocals", before the pace changes after track five, and concluding "Suzi Quatro at 70 is a long way from done". Julian Marszalek of Classic Rock stated that "if her latest album The Devil in Me proves anything it's that you can take Suzi Quatro out of Detroit, but you'll never take Detroit out of Suzi" as the tracks make "considerable nods to her roots and inspirations". Marszalek summarized that "if the devil does have the best tunes, then Suzi Quatro is grabbing enough of them here". Will Russell of Hot Press felt that "Quatro and her trusty bass are in excellent form" and the album "is a most valuable addition to her canon".

Back to the Drive is the eleventh studio album by Suzi Quatro. Released in March 2006, it was her comeback album, and her first since 1990's Oh Suzi Q. (apart from 1995's What Goes Around, which contained mostly re-recordings of her oldies, and 1998's Unreleased Emotion which had been recorded in 1983, but until then unreleased). Produced by Sweet guitarist Andy Scott and Steve Grant with input from Quatro's classic era producer Mike Chapman, this release features backing vocals by Shirlie Roden, ex-husband Len Tuckey on guitar, and includes her daughter, Laura Quatro (then Laura Tuckey), duetting with her on the download-only single "I'll Walk Through the Fire With You".

Козни Дьявола, не иначе! По моему скромному мнению, тут Джо вновь переплюнул сам себя и в третий раз после "Экстремиста" и чудного "Flying in a Blue Dream" покорил некие заоблачные вершины инструментальной гитарной музыки. Причем, каждый раз Мастер не повторял уже пройденный путь, а стремился взобраться на эту вершину с новой стороны. И самое главное - он никогда не боится экспериментов. Конечно, среднестатистическому любителю рока наверняка безразличен, скажем, тот факт, что инструментал "Mind Storm" стал первым, что Сатриани записал при помощи семиструнной гитары, но на самом деле по техническому решению этот трек просто кардинальнейше отличается от былого подхода героя рецензии к созданию музыки.

После нескольких прослушиваний стал ловить себя на мысли, что к этой работе Сатриани надо относиться, принимая во внимание возраст музыканта. Нет, Джо не стал со временем хуже или лучше. Он просто отражает своей музыкой возрастные изменения, происходящие с ним. В композициях появилась некоторая успокоенность и размеренность, присущая людям зрелым. Сатриани давно не надо никому ничего доказывать. Его творчество есть постоянная величина, и даже если он не будет записывать новых работ, то альбомы «Strange Beautiful Music» (2002) и «The Extremist» (1992) позволят Сатриани находиться на самом верху гитарного Олимпа. Но сказать, что Джо штампует никому не нужные инструменталы ради денег или спортивного интереса, нельзя. Вот и на рецензируемом альбоме присутствуют превосходные композиции, достойные лучших творений мастера. Атмосфера альбома мне кажется какой-то уютной и домашней. Здесь нет безумного драйва, встречающегося на альбомах раннего и среднего периодов творчества, но все композиции имеют яркие мелодии, которые мне лично впечатались в мозги с первых прослушиваний. Ощущение мастера сквозит буквально в каждой ноте.
