Видимо, поняв бесплодность попыток достичь какого либо знаменательного прогресса в сфере джаза и смежных с ним областях, Роберт Фрипп двинулся наконец в ярко выраженную рОковую сторону. Смена состава существенно омолодила звучание, но это в большей степени поворот к традициям дебютного альбома. Полностью новый состав, за исключением ядра группы, конечно, смог создать нечто неожиданное, и вместе с тем каноны соблюдены: узнаваемые балладные структуры, жесткий вступительный номер, повсеместное стремление к экспериментам.

It is the last album to feature John Lawton on vocals, before his firing in 1979. Fallen Angel only reached No. 186 on the Billboard 200, but in Germany, the band were at the height of their popularity.
