В переизданном варианте диск пополнился четырьмя дополнительными треками: "Fast Forward" (2002 version), "Radiation Sickness" (Nuclear Assault cover), "Beneath The Remains" (Sepultura cover) и "Curse The Gods" (Destruction cover). Кто не в курсах, шведы нарезают мощный трэш/дэз в лучших традициях таких групп как THE CROWN и THE HAUNTED, тоже, понятное дело, шведских. Правда "дефлешеды" сами вполне самодостаточны и сравнивать их с кем-то пожалуй не стОит. Типично шведский звук, типичный настрой гитар, короткие и яростные песни. Никаких клавиш и прочих слабостей. Быстро, весело, задорно.

Отличным назвать альбом язык не раздваивается, но хороший Black Metal - это факт. Два трека греческого чёрного металла - клыкастая злость, беспросветная скорбь и сумрачная атмосфера безжизненного берега между рогами серых скал и свинцовой водой Ахеронта. Интенсивные риффы северной закалки, шероховатый звук, смены богохульного рыка на вопли отчаяния и одинокий зов куда-то вдаль, а скоростных фрагментов на среднетемповые замедления, которые преобладают на этом альбоме. Строгий мелодизм и штрихи гитарных соло без излишеств. Всё это чередуется мрачными Ambient интерлюдиями, углубляющими ужасы пограничного пространства между миром живых и Хадесом. И более чем в тему - кавер JUDAS ISCARIOT. Он не выпадает из ауры альбома, но усиливает её - отнимает последние проблески и погружает в смерть.

It’s clear Tales is a strong album and that Cryvas has a knack for telling a story with his music. Unfortunately, too often the classical instrumentation eclipses the black metal, leaving the electric guitars doing little more than buzzing ferociously beneath the other instruments. In a way Tales feels like the perfect example of a black metal record that uses the genre as a vehicle for something else.

Великолепный, хотя и не признанный альбом. Первый экперимент Данцига в его одиночном плавании. На этом альбоме он отошел от традиционного хард рокового звучания и привнес немного индастриала. Альбом очень цельный, хотя поначалу кажется слегка затянутым. "Brand New God" - яростная и захватывающая вещь - этакая антибаллада, душераздирающая "Going Back To Die" вообще заставляет бросить все дела и бежать за водкой со всех ног. Финальный крик в "Let It Be Captured" можно принять за предмертную агонию и кажется, что после него Данциг вряд ли сможет петь. Самое странное впечатление вызыввает последний, скрытый трек, где Гленн поет о демонах под сопровождение органа.
