Mr Twin Sister, formerly Twin Sister, is an American band from Long Island. This is the second full length album by the five members of Twin Sister, now known as Mr Twin Sister. Following their debut LP, composed largely in a studio, the band returned to the creative process they had employed on their first two EPs- working individually or in small, shifting groups. Ideas germinated in an environment where experimentation was encouraged. Some bloomed immediately, others matured slowly over the years, the rest demolished and rebuilt dozens of times in an effort to discover their ideal form. Progress was slow, coming in fits and bursts, accommodating the unexpected twists and turns of life.

Les Voix Humaines are renowned for their spectacular arrangements of a wide variety of music for two viols and their brilliant performances of contemporary music commissioned by the duo.

Mark Knopfler’s eighth studio album, Tracker, will be released on March 16, 2015 (March 17 in North America). The album features 11 new songs inspired by a wide range of subjects including Beryl Bainbridge and Basil Bunting. The songs contain Mark’s usual wryly but accurately observed vignettes of real life wrapped up in a musical accompaniment of distinctive subtlety.

Originally conceived as a Royal Ballet-commissioned collaboration between composer Max Richter, choreographer Wayne McGregor and artist Julian Opie, Max Richter’s gorgeous score to ‘infra’ is deservedly given life of its own in this album-length release from FatCat’s instrumental/orchestral imprint 130701 Records. The recording of ‘infra’ took place in one day at London’s AIR Studios – recorded onto 2” tape, engineered by Nick Wollage and overseen by Max - before a return to the mixing studio (Max’s StudioKino and Trixx in Berlin) for Max’s typically intricate and lengthy process of crafting completed pieces from the recordings.

Max Richter is scoring the upcoming indie ensemble drama Disconnect. The film stars Jason Bateman, Andrea Riseborough, Alexander Skarsgard, Paula Patton, Max Thieriot, Colin Ford, Michael Nyqvist, Hope Davis, Frank Grillo, Jonah Bobo and Haley Ramm. The movie marks the narrative feature directing debut of Henry-Alex Rubin who previously helmed the Academy Award-nominated documentary Murderball. Disconnect interweaves three potboiler storylines about people searching for human connection in today’s wired world of the internet. The drama is written by Andrew Stern (Return to Me) and produced by Mickey Liddell & Jennifer Hilton (The Grey, The Collector) for Liddell Entertainment and William Horberg (Milk, The Talented Mr. Ripley) for Wonderful Films. No word yet on when the film will be released.

German-born British composer and pianist, Richter is a musician used to challenges. The most recent of which was to recompose Antonio Vivaldi's hugely popular "Four Seasons", in collaboration with German label Deutsche Grammophon: A very personal retreatment that allows the listener to recognize the original piece but at the same time, enjoy it in a completely new and surprising light, transporting you to an unknown sonic territory. On this occasion Richter will be accompanied by instrumental group bcn216 (resident of L'Auditori de Barcelona) to bring at Teatre CCCB his subtle and individual re-adaptation of Vivaldi’s creation ‘live’. He has reconfigured the body of work by removing a number of notes, reorganizing certain passages and adding seductive electronic arrangements.

Waltz With Bashir is a very unusual animated documentary, directed by Ari Folman, which examines the horrors of the 1982 Lebanon war from the point of view of the director himself, when he was a 19-year old soldier in the Israeli Defence Force. The film has been the recipient of much praise on the independent film and festival circuit, receiving award nominations from the Cannes Film Festival, the European Film Awards, and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. The score for Waltz With Bashir is by Scots-German composer Max Richter, a former student of Luciano Berio, and whose first major film score this is.

Dallas trio Mothership like to kick up a stink. By that we mean a dirty old stew of riffs and mean vocals that literally smell of the highway. No doubt clad in denim and leather, you can smell the sweat and fumes coming back off this album as it takes on its heady journey. Full of classic rock riffs and attitude it is like rolling back the years to the 70’s once again.

It’s one of life’s ironies that an artist as independent and ahead of her time as Betty Davis (Mabry) is today remembered mostly for her brief marriage to Miles Davis, and for having transformed the trumpeter in record time from Italian suited jazzer to psychedelically garbed imbiber of Bitches Brew. (Davis credited Betty with introducing him both to hip threads and the sounds of Hendrix, Sly Stone, and others.) Chump change indeed for a singer, songwriter, model/fashionista, and provocateur who was a Greenwich Village scene maker while still in her teens. She wrote “Uptown (To Harlem)” for the Chambers Brothers, and later went on to release three unheralded records of low-down ‘70s funk whose open sexual attitudes prefigured later, more commercially successful efforts by Rick James, Prince, and Madonna.
