Accelerate is the 14th studio album by American alternative rock band R.E.M., released on March 31, 2008 in Europe, and on April 1 in North America. Produced with Jacknife Lee, Accelerate was intended as a departure from the 2004 album Around the Sun.[2] R.E.M. previewed several of the album's tracks during a five-night residency at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, and recorded the album in a nine-week schedule.

New Adventures in Hi-Fi is the 10th studio album by the American alternative rock band R.E.M. It was their fifth major label release for Warner Bros. Records, released on September 9, 1996, in Europe and Australia and the following day in the United States. New Adventures in Hi-Fi was the last album recorded with founding member Bill Berry (who left the band amicably the following year), original manager Jefferson Holt, and long-time producer Scott Litt. Наконец-то появилась возможность послушать одну из главных работ одной из старейших метал-групп США. «Fire Down Under» был первым альбомом группы на новом лейбле Elektra Records. Саунд отдает даже не восьмидесятыми, а семидесятыми, чувствуется большое влияние хард-рока. Интересно, что Riot, будучи группой американской, играли в стиле, напоминающем английский NWOBHM еще во время зарождения этого движения, тем более что в пределах своей страны группа на тот момент была одной из главных в движении тяжелого рока наряду с Van Halen и ранними Motley Crue. Как я и сказал, исполняемый группой стиль здорово напоминал английских коллег, хотя своя индивидуальность у Riot, несомненно, присутствовала. Во-первых, здесь нет влияний панка, вместо них - традиционные хардовые элементы. Во-вторых - тексты у Riot подчас гораздо серьезнее, чем у большей половины представителей NWOBHM.
