The American group White Heart has had one of the longest careers in Christian rock, beginning in 1982 with the release of their debut album WHITE HEART and lasting all the way to 1997, when their last album REDEMPTION was released. Through these years they have been considered among the pioneers of Christian rock, and their popularity has not wavered, despite frequent personnel changes. The band's musical style is not totally straight-forward, as it includes a hint of progressiveness.

When White Heart gets it right, it's so right. And this is one of those albums where a White Heart line-up reaches the peak of its powers. Highlands, just marginally second to White Heart's best album, Freedom, has many similar reasons for its appeal as Freedom. In particular, it shows what White Heart can do better than nearly most bands - joyful songs that aren't cheesy (Don't get me wrong, White Heart have done their fair share of cheese, but not here). There isn't a dud track on Highlands.

Очень быстрые гитары с очень разнообразными гитарными проигрышами, вокалист, не жалеющий свои голосовые связки - такое впечатление, что я перенесся назад на 20лет :) Вот какими должны были быть их идейные вдохновители! Причем до уровня плагиата группа не доходит, просто взято все самое лучшее в плане идеи и в целом звучания, переработано и даже приумножено. Вокалист обладает очень специфичным разнообразным и сильным голосом, аналогий которому нету вообще. Микширование хорошее, отчетливо слышно все инструменты и вокал, но до уровня эталонных записей им чего-то не хватает, наверное, даже по качеству записи хотели приблизиться к эталонам 80-х.

Бескомпромиссный сайд-проект Акхенатена (на вокале ему здесь помогает его небезызвестный кореш Нил Джеймсон, a на ударных Cryptic Winter), с бескомпромиссным названием и бескомпромиссно неотличимый от его основного детища. Но это даже хорошо. Собственно, оба альбома Вельтмахт можно воспринимать как дополнение к дискографии JI. Дебютный полноформатник и достойный тычок под дых каждому ненавистнику USBM.

Перед нами одновременно и старый, и новый "чепэл". Музыка снова обогатилась клавишными, есть и новый инструментал ("Devoid"). Правда, клавишные минималистичны и даже просты (одним пальцем сыграть реально), но для вступлений и концовок годятся. Зато между ними - узнаваемый ритм, построенный на замысловатом качающем риффинге, который напоминает звук грузовика. Похоже на старый КрАЗ, чья дизельная "восьмерка" неровно молотит на холостых. Теория должна подкрепляться практикой, поэтому включаем ударные из "Faces" или того же "Devoid", садимся в КрАЗ и внимательно подгазовываем в такт.

I freely admit that Worriers was one of those bands I should have known much more about prior to attending the Fest last year. Missing out on their appearance in Gainesville is quickly becoming my biggest regret. If I Was a River is the ninth studio album from American singer-songwriter Willie Nile. The all-piano album was released in November 2014 under River House Records. Nile recorded If I Was a River on the same Steinway grand piano that he played the night John Lennon was killed, December 8, 1980. Nile was in Studio "A" at The Record Plant in New York City making Golden Down and John and Yoko were working on Walking on Thin Ice in Studio C that night.
