A третьи, используя аутентичный материал, стараются создать нечто свое, только лишь опираясь на аутентичное звучание - нам хорошо известны эти коллективы - QNTAL и IN EXTREMO. Классики новой волны германского medieval CORVUS CORAX как раз вполне попадают в последнюю категорию. Исполняя реальные средневековые композиции с использованием старинных инструментов они прикладывают немало усилий для того, чтобы осовременить свое звучание. В первую очередь обращает на себя внимание ритм - ударные нарочито выведены на передний план, а ведь именно эти партии наименее аутентичны, их жесткий, насыщенный звук удачно контрастирует с звучанием старинных инструментов, и в то же время замечательно оттеняет нестандартный для medieval "злой" шаманский вокал. Именно удачный ритм и является отличительной фишкой CORVUS CORAX сразу привлекая внимание необычностью звучания, можно сказать что нашли компромис между полностью электронным (пример которого мы можем услышать у QNTAL и чисто аутентичным звучанием. Большая часть трэков является абсолютными хитами, а во время прослушивания этого диска я не раз ловил себя на мысли что отстукиваю ногой ритм композиций.
