Steve Hackett has been remarkably present and productive in recent years. At 67, he is so busy touring all over the world, recording new albums, re-issuing old ones, releasing live recordings and working with other artists that it is a joy to see the full-blooded musician at work in him. Steve Hackett says his new album "The Night Siren" (March 24, 2017) is a direct response to the far-right ideas currently dominating the political landscape.

This carefully curated special release comes as a 4xCD Deluxe Edition Box and on digital formats each boasting 35 live tracks - many never before released - recorded as far afield as Glasgow, Tokyo and Sydney.

The thing I love about this colection is it's blend of pure '70s rock with the new-age sound of the 80's. No other band, I suppose, could pull it off. Putting "Rockin' All Over The World", a rock classic, on the same CD as "Magic" (probobly the most '80s Quo song ever) may seem like a bad idea to most people, but it's on here, and it works. There's some great riffs on here, as well. Those who have heard "Backwater" and "Roll Over Lay Down" will know what I mean. Those who havn't heard them, havn't lived.
