Der Name des Albums bezieht sich auf die Antike Mythe der Hydra. Hydra is the sixth studio album by Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation. It was released on January 31, 2014 in Europe and on February 4, 2014 in North America. The album contains guest appearances by singer Howard Jones (ex-Killswitch Engage), rapper Xzibit, metal vocalist Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish) and alternative rock singer Dave Pirner (Soul Asylum). The first single, "Paradise (What About Us?)", was released on September 27, 2013, and featured Turunen as guest vocalist. The second single, "Dangerous", was released on December 20, in which Jones provided the male vocals.

The album was met with generally favorable reviews and commercial success, increasing the band's popularity outside the Netherlands. Metal Hammer considered the album important both for Within Temptation's career and the development of the symphonic metal genre as a whole, a position shared by AllMusic. Only one week after its release, the album reached gold status in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Finland, later also achieving platinum status in Germany and double platinum in their homecountry.

The album spawned three singles that helped increasing the band's popularity in Europe, all of them achieving commercial success in their homeland and several other European countries. The first single, "Stand My Ground", was released in November 2004 and reached the fourth position on the Dutch Top 40. The second single, "Memories", was released on 31 January 2005. The third and final single, "Angels", was released on 13 June 2005. The album originated a total of five singles. The first and most successful one, "What Have You Done", was released on 14 February and was met with moderate chart success across Europe. The second single was "The Howling", released on 1 May exclusively in the United States. The third single, "Frozen", was released in Europe on 11 June. The fourth single, "All I Need", was released on 11 November. In order to promote the album the band embarked on their first world tour, entitled The Heart of Everything World Tour, visiting countries in Europe, North America, South America, and Asia. The track "Forgiven" was released as a single on 12 September 2008 for promoting the live album Black Symphony, recorded during the tour.

The Heart of Everything is the fourth studio album by Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation. It was released on 12 March 2007 in Europe by GUN Records and on 18 June 2007 in North America by Roadrunner Records. The album follows the symphonic metal sound the band had been improving and deepening until then, and is considered by lead vocalist Sharon den Adel as the album in which the band finally managed to achieve this kind of sound.

In 1997 Within Temptation released their first album "Enter".
"Enter" is filled with massive, gritty riffs and a balance of Robert Westerholdt's gritty growling and Sharon den Adel's ethereal vocals.
in 1998 WT released their follow-up, the 5-track E. P. 'The Dance', a deep and lush mini-album that combined the epic feel and invigorating nature of power metal with the massive majesty of symphonic doom metal.
