Наполнение альбома поначалу завораживает и сбивает столку своей причудливой и неожиданной формой. Потом же перестаёшь обращать на это внимание и просто наслаждаешься сильным материалом, способным удивить рядом неожиданных трактовок. Подводя итоги, хочется назвать данный лонгплей исключением, подтверждающим правило о шведской сцене начала 90-х. Таким образом, нет ничего удивительного в том, что коллектив не известен многим интересующимся сценой этой страны, но чертовски обидно, что такие альбомы, как описываемый, незаслуженно забыты.

В следующем году Asgaard снова радуют своих поклонников новым альбомом - "XIII Voltum Lunae", вышедшим в октябре 2002. В том же месяце, группа записывает свой DVD "Lux in Tenebris", снятый во время концертов в поддержку Enslaved, Rotting Christ и Dark Tranquillity. Релиз видео состоялся в 2003 году на Metal Mind Productions. В этом же году переиздаётся второй полноформатник Asgaard, "Ad sidera, Ad infinitum". Третий полноформатник австралийских экспериментаторов. По сравнению с предыдущим альбомом стало больше медленных моментов, в некоторых местах замечена пресловутая затянутость, но это лишь единственный минус. Рамки стиля под названием Alchemist расширены и в общую топку теперь добавлены альтернативные ритмы и почти первобытные ударные (в "Chinese Whispers"). Ритмический рисунок стал еще более интересным, появились разные нестандартные сбивки. Вокал помимо ставшего уже визитной карточкой группы хрипа дополнился чистоголосым пением и упрочил положение в скриминге. Электроника добавила новых ощущений от прослушивания музыки, особенно необычно звучит композиция "Staying Conscious", начинаясь с почти депешмодовских ритмов. Гитары в своем активе имеют экстремальные риффы, слайдовые и психоделические соло, восточные зарисовки, легко переключаясь от одной манеры игры к другой.

Rare is the seventh studio album by British rock band Asia, released in 1999 by Resurgence. Geoff Downes had mixed feelings about the album's production. He stated "It was good to start with, but I think because of the duration of the album - at the end of it we felt it had gone in a slightly different direction than we wanted it to. In hindsight, sometimes these things happen."
