Back in 1975 DEEP PURPLE MK III were playing their final shows, with the majority of the band and the audience not even knowing. Ritchie Blackmore, unsatisfied with most tracks on the latest DEEP PURPLE album “Stormbringer” collaborated with singer Ronnie James Dio to record a solo single (which grew to an entire album) and finally took the decision to leave DEEP PURPLE and form a new band called RAINBOW. During a short touring break before the last of the planned dates, Blackmore informed the management about his decision to leave and the management took the opportinity to bring in the Rolling Stones mobile recording studio to capture the MKIII final shows taking place in Graz, Saarbrücken and Paris.

Live in Europe 1993 (alternative title: On Tour MCMXCIII) is a live box set containing two concerts recorded by Deep Purple in 1993.
The first recording is from a show on 16 October at the Schleyerhalle in Stuttgart, Germany. The second is from a show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England on 9 November, which would be the final show Ritchie Blackmore did with Deep Purple in England.

Taken together, David Coverdale's first two post-Deep Purple solo albums, 1977's White Snake and 1978's Northwinds, are rather more subdued and, while not exactly laid-back, more in a mainstream late-'70s rock groove than you might expect from a singer who fronted both Deep Purple and Whitesnake, with pit stops for roots rock, AOR ballads, and gently funky stuff. Taken on their own terms outside of the context of Deep Purple and Whitesnake, they're mediocre listening, the product of a man uncertain about where to take his music as a solo act, without the rock-hard hard rock support of one of his steady bands.

Although one does sometimes wonder whether there is not something ever-so-slightly self-defeating about CD-single box sets (who wants to get up to change the disc every five minutes?), as artifacts of the digital age, they have few peers. From ABBA to Black Sabbath, these little cases of perfectly reproduced period 45s make a magnificent conversation piece, and Deep Purple's contribution to the canon is one of the best of them all. Eleven discs round up each of the group's singles as issued in the U.K. and Europe between 1968 ("Hush") and 1976 ("You Keep On Moving") and, while there is nothing here that cannot be picked up on a full-length CD, still it is interesting to trace the band's overall development at 45 rpm. Following "Hush" with "Kentucky Woman" and "Emmaretta," after all, was simply the action of a band that had no direction, and not much clue as to what they'd do with one if they found it. "Hallelujah," the first recording to feature new members Ian Gillan and Roger Glover, says little for what Deep Purple would go on to create. But the moment the laser hits "Black Night," you know that this is a group absolutely in control of its destiny, rushing on through "Strange Kind of Woman," "Fireball," "Never Before" and "Woman from Tokyo" without missing a beat. Thereafter, two further singles -- "Might Just Take Your Life" and "You Keep On Moving" -- seem to have been issued more for the sake of having a new 45 out than for any hopes the band entertained of scoring an actual hit. But the former's instrumental B-side "Coronarias Redig" is a joy, while "Moving" itself is one of the group's all-time greatest numbers. With several singles incorporating non-album B-sides, and the picture sleeves featuring some genuinely nostalgic artistic notions, the box set is a joy to both play and behold. And, though you probably won't listen to it all that often, it's a wonderful thing to own, as well. ~ Dave Thompson

Gemini Suite Live is a recording of Jon Lord's classical/rock piece Gemini Suite featuring the original Mark II band lineup of Deep Purple, recorded live during this one and only live performance in 1970. A follow up to their "Concerto" Project, it featured five movements for the individual members of the band, including a guitar piece from Blackmore.

On this, the first of two releases penciled in for 2014, the prolific—by modern standards—guitarist is lent cracking rhythmic impetus by drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and bassist Jimmy Johnson. Given the wide variety of contexts in which Colaiuta (Frank Zappa, John McLaughlin, Joni Mitchell) and Johnson (Allan Holdsworth, James Taylor) have played over the years, it's little wonder they drive Budjana's tunes with verve, and when required, great finesse.

H2O is the eleventh studio album from Daryl Hall and John Oates, released in 1982. A hit, it featured three top 10 US singles, one being "Maneater", which was the biggest hit of their career, spending four weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album title is a play on the chemical formula for water, where "H" is for Hall, and "O" is for Oates.

Private Eyes is the tenth studio album from Daryl Hall and John Oates, released in 1981. The album includes two #1 hits—the title track, "Private Eyes" and "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)", as well as the top ten hit "Did It in a Minute". "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)" also spent a week at the top of the R&B charts—a rare accomplishment for a white band.

Voices is the ninth studio album by Hall & Oates, released in 1980. It spent 100 weeks on the Billboard 200 Pop Albums Chart, peaking at #17.

This is an album full of beautiful melodies, brilliant lyricism, and showcases a tight band playing for the love of music. Highly Recommended!
David Knopfler, founder of the great Dire Straits has finally released his eighth solo album. Always a literate songwriter, David Knopfler manages to put thought-provoking and insightful lyrics to beautiful, acoustic music. The music (nearly 59 minutes worth) on "Wishbones" lives up to the stratospheric standard set on 1993's brilliant "The Giver" and the (until now) unprecedented magnificence of David Knopfler's last album, 1994's "Small Mercies".

“Alter Ego” - третий сольный альбом Дуга Элдрича. Гитарист сей не очень раскручен в плане известности, и в последние годы знаком нам как музыкант Whitesnake. Кроме группы Ковердэйла в портфолио Дуга значатся Burning Rain, Bad Moon Rising, Lion, Dio и Hurricane. Познакомиться с сольным творчеством музыканта меня сподвигло обыкновенное человеческое любопытство – мне по душе работа Элдрича на альбоме Whitesnake “Good to Be Bad” и на видео "Whitesnake - In the Still of the Night Live».
“Alter Ego” - замечательная работа музыканта. На диске представлены как инструментальные композиции, так и песенные номера. К отличительным особенностям можно отнести определенную сложность представленного материала в плане структур и аранжировок песен. Мне субъективно импонирует жесткая (в рамках хард-рока) подача материала. Искрометные скоростные пассажи в динамичных моментах, красивые гармоничные интонации в медленных частях, отменное вибрато и со вкусом выверенные флажолеты. Характерной чертой песен Элдрича, на мой взгляд, являются запоминающиеся припевы. Отдельные инструментальные композиции несут ощутимый привкус фанка. Звучание альбома мощное и энергичное. Даже в балладных композициях нет ощущения сопливой слащавости и прочих страданий.

В чем-чем, а в искусстве придумывания интригующих названий для своих альбомов музыкантам De-Phazz равных нет: «Detunized Gravity», «Godsdog», «Death by Chocolate»... И вот теперь не менее оригинальное: «Daily Lama» (что-то вроде «Домашний Лама» или «Лама на каждый день»). Судя по всему, своим названием альбом должен символизировать чистоту и одухотворенность, отрешение и самодостаточность, но без стремления в заоблачные дали. Нирвана - на земле.

Группа DEAD END HEROES образовалась случайно. Вначале это должен был быть сольный инструментальный альбом швейцарского барабанщика Daniel’а Voegeli’а (ME & THE REST). Для помощи в создании альбома он связался с гитаристом и продюсером Рольфом Манкерсом (EMPIRE, TONY MARTIN, MAJESTY).
Манкерс предложил создать группу из профессиональных музыкантов и переделать материал Войгила. Этим занялся немецкий вокалист и сессионный музыкант Carsten Lizard Schulz (EVIDENCE ONE, DOMAIN, LAVALLE). По рекомендации Шульца был приглашён шотландский басист Paul Logue (EDEN'S CURSE, DOOGIE WHITE, DAVID READMAN, LAVALLE). И последнее, но не менее важное, чтобы добавить недостающий ингредиент Classic Rock был приглашён давний друг Шульца и органист мирового класса Holger Seeger (MIDNITE CLUB, IAIN ASHLEY HERSEY).
