Evil Masquerade была образована летом 2003 года в Копенгагене (Дания) шведским гитаристом, композитором и продюссером Хенриком Флиманом. Годом раньше он написал 11 песен, которые вошли в дебютный альбом группы - "Welcome to the Show" в 2004 году. Кроме Генрика Флимана, в группу вошли бывший вокалист Royal Hunt Хенрик Брокмэнн (вокал), Деннис Бул (ударные) и Каспер Грэм (бас-гитара). В группе не было постоянного клавишника, и приглашались Андре Андерсен (Royal Hunt), Матс Олэуссон (Yngwie Malmsteen, Ark), Ричард Андерссон (Time Requiem, Space Odyssey) и Ларс Боутрап. Evil Masquerade сразу же получила признание и вошла в японские чарты под номером 8.

Вместе с тем, не буду умалять очевидных достоинств весьма любимых и уважаемых лично мною музыкантов. "Эктоморф" рубят исключительно технично и не дают осечек, их неизмеримой энергии и запредельному драйву может позавидовать любая команда, хоть хардкорная, хоть дэтовая, хоть гриндовая. Качает просто нереально, впрыскивает в кровь опасно высокую дозу агрессии, бодрости, жизненной силы, окрыляющих сверхчеловеческих способностей. Ну и подкупающая чистосердечность, неоспоримая искренность, ярко проступающая и в истошных хрипах Золтана и яростной игре его коллег. Равнодушию потенциального слушателя все это не оставляет даже ничтожных шансов.

Миник, предваряющий выход полноформатника «Purgatory Afterglow». Ценен он тем, что не содержит трэки со своего «большого брата» - песни здесь все оригинальные. Сыграно также интересно, эдакий фирменный мелодичный прог-дэт. Качество записи, как всегда у Edge of Sanity, на высочайшем уровне.Первые 2 трэка в более мягком ключе, чем на полноценном альбоме, а вот 3-й, «Bleed», очень даже тяжеленьким получился. Интересен последний, 4-й трэк, который является кавером The Police (слова и музыка Стинга) - Дэн Свано продемонстрировал, как он умеет петь не только гроулом, но и приятным «чистым» вокалом.

General response to Requiem for the Indifferent was positive. AllMusic stated that the album "is a typically elaborate and ambitious affair, incorporating copious amounts of choral work and classical arrangements into the band's neatly established blend of goth, progressive, power, and symphonic metal." Natalie Zed of About.com staff considers Requiem for the Indifferent "a transitional album for the band", which tries to expand their musical range experimenting with "weird" riffing and new combination of vocals, while "losing none of the richness that has gained them fans."

Balance of Power was the last studio album by the Electric Light Orchestra before their initial disbanding (the band would later reform in 2000 and again in 2014). By this time Kelly Groucutt had departed and the group was pared down to a trio of Jeff Lynne (who doubled on bass as a result of Groucutt's absence), Richard Tandy, and Bev Bevan. Recording for the album began in mid of 1984, with a planned release for Spring 1985. The addition of several synthesizer tracks and mixing work by Reinhold Mack to the album caused its release to be pushed back to early 1986. ELO played some live concerts in the UK and Europe (their last for fifteen years), and for one UK show George Harrison performed as guest guitarist.
