Группа Elf является первым по-настоящему крупным и успешным проектом великого патриарха тяжелой музыки Ронни Джеймса Дио. В начале 70-ых годов у коллектива вышло три студийных альбома, первый из которых я сейчас и рецензирую. В составе на тот момент числилось четыре человека - гитарист Дэвид Фейнштейн, клавишник Микки Ли Соул, барабанщик Гэри Дрисколл, и сам Ронни, который в те стародавние времена еще играл на бас гитаре. Сразу хотелось бы предупредить всех поклонников Дио - материал, исполняемый Elf, не имеет почти никакого отношения даже к творчеству Rainbow, а уж к Dio и Black Sabbath тем более. Elf играют старомодный хард рок, весь насквозь пропитанный духом 60-ых. Даже столь традиционного для харда звучания органа "Хэммонд" почти совсем нет, основной инструмент Микки - обычное пианино. Ну а любители "фирменных" сказочно-мистических текстов рискуют впасть в шок, услышав маэстро исполняющего песни типа "Love Me Like A Woman". Но, несмотря на все эти нюансы, я искренне рекомендую ознакомится с творчеством Elf всем почитателям Ронни. Во-первых, все гениальные музыканты с чего то начинали. Ну а во-вторых, это самое начало у Дио очень даже неплохое. Такие замечательные не напрягающие треки как "Hoochie Koochie Woman" или "I'm Coming Back For You" создают приятную атмосферу возвращения лет на 40 назад, когда классический рок-н-ролл был живее всех живых.

Год спустя на Moscow Funeral League выходит второй релиз дуэта “The Last Way”. К чему тянуть кота за яйца? Атмосферность работы, как и на “Mze Ukunisa” достигается преимущественно за счёт продолжительных, душевно прописанных гитарных соло, оттеняющих плотный поток неповоротливых риффов, как следствие клавишных практически нет, а те, что есть, скромно отведены на задний план, не отвлекая внимания от основной линии альбома. За что ещё могло бы зацепиться придирчивое ухо? За риффы, пожалуй, но они вполне традиционны, и в контексте funeral мне трудно говорить о "цепляющих риффах". Вокал? Гроул Давида “Unsaved” действительно хорош, и подтверждение тому – популярность такого способа пения в других командах и проектах жанра.

Через некоторое время после выхода дебютного альбома, группу Elf заметили. И заметил не кто нибудь, а сами Deep Purple! Воодушевившись музыкой коллектива, короли тогдашнего хард рока взяли молодых талантов к себе на гастроли. Стоит ли говорить о том, что эта встреча кардинально изменила судьбу Elf? Во-первых, по совету своего нового друга, Ричи Блэкмора, Ронни Дио заменил гитариста Дэвида Фейнштейна на более опытного Стива Эдвардса. Во-вторых, маэстро сосредоточился только на пении и в группу был принят басист Крэйг Грубер. Ну и, в-третьих, за счет продюсирования со стороны Гловера и Пэйса, бюджет на запись второго альбома был значительно увеличен. Как следствие, "Carolina County Ball" звучит намного качественней дебюта, в арсенале группы появились духовые инструменты и женские подпевки. Неизменным остался только стиль - перед нами все тот же ретро хард рок, с простенькими текстами и нулевым смыслом. Очевидно благодаря добротному контролю со стороны мастеров своего дела, плохих песен на диске почти нет.

Саунд здесь чист и прозрачен, без "грузящей" тяжести ранних альбомов. Где-то даже слышны отголоски земляков Ангизия. Немецкий язык у Eisregen- музыкальный инструмент наравне с гитарами, синтезаторами и ударными и никакой другой язык сюда не годится.Какие-то отдельные песни выделить очень сложно- они все здесь очень разные, клавишные здесь не фоновые, а полноправные участники пиршества и это очень удачное решение, тк ощущение безумного бурлеска добавляют именно они.

"Four years we have waited"… And there's my share of melodramatics. 2014 is the year EXODUS fans have been waiting for ever (unlikely) patient, because American all-star Thrashers return with "Blood In, Blood Out". Let's face it; the "Exhibit" albums were pretty hard to beat; one can expect great musicians do always outdo themselves on the next effort, and I have a strong feeling that's what Exodus have done. Set apart significant from its predecessors, it features the return of legendary vocalist Steve, who's last appearance on an EXODUS record was in 2004.
One of the album's highlights, it takes a jarring, mind-bending approach to riffs; retaining the EXODUS epicness, which we will later hear on full display, but ends up refreshing what could have been turning into a bland album. Great Thrash Metal, I find, is that which doesn't stagnate, and EXODUS avoiding stagnation like the plague is what puts them and the top of the scene.

The Open Door is the second studio album by the American rock band Evanescence. It was first released in Poland on September 25, 2006, through Wind-up Records and subsequently in more than 20 countries worldwide. The release date, which was originally intended to be in March 2006, was changed because of guitarist Terry Balsamo's stroke, the loss of the band's former manager, and Will Boyd's and Ben Moody's departure from the band. Anywhere but Home is the first live album and video release by American rock band Evanescence, released on November 23, 2004, by Wind-up Records. It includes all four of their Fallen music videos, an hour of behind the scenes features, and a recording of a concert at Le Zénith in Paris. It also includes a previously unreleased song on the CD release, titled "Missing" (which also plays during the DVD credits); while placed at the end of the disc, the CD insert shows it as track eight however it is actually track 14 and incorrectly labeled "Whisper".

Eva by Heart is the first solo studio album (third overall) by American singer Eva Cassidy, released in 1997 (see 1997 in music). It was released after Cassidy's death in 1996.

We Too Are One is the eighth album by the British pop music duo Eurythmics, released in September 1989. It would be the duo's last studio release until 1999's Peace.
