Veteran producer Tony Watts was behind this budget collection of George Formby's work, mostly from the 1930s -- which represented Formby's prime -- and the quality shows, in the good-quality transfers as well as a decent essay/overview of Formby's career. The selection is a good one, touching all of the expected bases ("The Window Cleaner," etc.), all astonishingly catchy novelty and music hall tunes, mostly with a double-entendre element.

Following their 1991 We Can't Dance tour, Genesis released two live albums - Genesis Live: The Way We Walk Volume One: The Shorts and Genesis Live: The Way We Walk Volume Two: The Longs. While The Longs was aimed more at the long-term progressive fans, The Shorts was geared more toward the newer 'singles' fans.
I fit into the Longs category. Despite having great live versions of songs such as "No Son of Mine", "Mama", and "Hold on my Heart", this just doesn't do anything for me. I can pretty much do without the Invisible Touch tracks, and there's little of necessity to tracks such as "I Can't Dance" and "That's All". But i'll cut my losses now while i'm ahead. It is, after all, The Shorts, and if i didn't want to hear the shorts, i'd put in The Longs instead, no? Which i will do 10 times out of 10... all the reason i needed to part with this.
Fairly smart move, though... one live CD for the Invisible Touch Club, another for the progheads, and neither has to be bogged down by the 'other' Genesis.

Recording and performing together since the late '70s, Gene Bertoncini and Michael Moore once more undertake the daunting task of making a guitar-bass duet session attractive to listeners without being boring or maudlin. Like their earlier efforts, Two in Time successfully fills the bill. The interesting play list, with a balanced mix of slow and up-tempo tunes, contributes much to making this a satisfying session. The medley of "The Bad and the Beautiful" and "Laura," with most of the players' attention given to the latter, is intriguing in the way that it segues back and forth between Moore's dark, brooding bowing on "Laura" and Bertoncini's upbeat guitar. Moore also bows on "You've Changed" which is a highlight of his introspective but very lyrical approach to the music.

Out in the Fields: The Very Best of Gary Moore is a compilation album by Gary Moore. Released in 1998, the album encompasses a part of Moore's immense career from 1982 to 1992, focusing predominantly on the hard rock albums Moore released during that period. As well as the regular 1-disc version, a 2-CD limited edition was also released; the second disc contains several live and studio B-sides, a non-album single and a single remix.

The Glitter Band are a glam rock band from England, who initially worked as Gary Glitter's backing band under that name from 1973, when they then began releasing records of their own. They were unofficially known as the Glittermen on the first four hit singles by Gary Glitter from 1972 to 1973.
The Glitter Band had seven UK Top 20 hit singles in the mid-1970s, and three hit albums. Pete Phipps and John Springate are still currently touring with The Glitter Band. John Rossall and Harvey Ellison tour under their own names.

Oftentimes, U.K. chart success does not necessarily mean stateside success, as is evident with artists such as Kylie Minogue, Cliff Richard, Simply Red, Robbie Williams, and, in this case, the warm-voiced, anti-diva British soul/pop singer/songwriter Gabrielle, the recipient of 1997's Brit Award for Best British Female Vocalist. Gabrielle scored with an amazing run of hits in Europe, but only one true hit in the U.S. with "Dreams." All of her charted singles are assembled on Dreams Can Come True: Greatest Hits, Vol. 1, a fantastic collection of truly timeless, fad-free music -- upbeat, positive songs which could have been hits 30 years before this album's release and will sound just as good 30 years later.

Go West are an English pop duo, formed in 1982 by lead vocalist Peter Cox and rhythm guitarist and backup vocalist Richard Drummie. The duo enjoyed their peak of popularity between the mid 1980s and the early 1990s and are best known for the international top 10 hits "We Close Our Eyes", "Call Me" and "King of Wishful Thinking". They were named Best British Newcomer at the 1986 Brit Awards

Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best of George Michael is a greatest hits album by George Michael, released on 1 December 1998.
The collection of 28 songs (29 songs are included on the European and Australian release) are separated into two halves, with each CD of the double set containing music of a particular theme and mood. The first CD, titled "For the Heart", predominantly contains Michael's hit ballads, while the second CD, "For the Feet", comprises mostly his popular dance tunes.

The Best of the Blues is a 2002 two-CD compilation album by Gary Moore. The first disc contains songs from his 1990s blues albums After Hours, Blues Alive, Blues for Greeny and, most prominently, Still Got the Blues. The second disc is entirely live. Both discs feature blues veterans Albert King, B. B. King and Albert Collins as guest artists.

The first recording sessions for Bleed Like Me took place in March 2003, but were mostly unproductive due to passive aggression between the band members, and a general lack of direction. As Garbage struggled to create the album, the band quietly split for four months starting October 2003. They reunited under producer John King in Los Angeles, and following a guest appearance by Dave Grohl on "Bad Boyfriend", the band found a renewed focus on production. Garbage recruited drummer Matt Walker and bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen for new recording sessions, and completed the album by the end of 2004.
