The songs have been remastered and enhanced. That is one of the key features and likely selling points of this new release.

Yoko Ono supervised John Lennon’s “Gimme Some Truth” campaign. The worldwide release of eight remastered studio albums and other newly-compiled titles occurred on Oct. 4, 2020. It was a passion project for her.

Double Fantasy è il settimo ed ultimo disco in studio registrato in vita da John Lennon.

Pubblicato dalla Geffen Records, a nome John Lennon e Yōko Ono, il 17 novembre 1980 (solo tre settimane prima del suo omicidio), l'album segnò il ritorno sulle scene di Lennon dopo cinque anni di silenzio discografico.

Nonostante le iniziali critiche negative, da parte della stampa specializzata, anche a causa dell'emozione suscitata nel mondo dall'assassinio di Lennon, l'album ottenne successivamente un discreto successo commerciale e fu premiato ai Grammy Awards 1981 come disco dell'anno. To mark the album's 20th anniversary, A New Day Yesterday was remixed, remastered and reissued in 2020 under the title A New Day Now: 20th Anniversary Edition. The reissue was produced by Kevin Shirley, features re-recorded vocals, and includes three previously unreleased recordings from 1997 produced by Steven Van Zandt. A New Day Now topped the US Billboard Blues Albums chart. The remixes of "Cradle Rock" and "Colour and Shape" were issued as singles.

Double Fantasy (englisch für „Doppelte Fantasie“) ist das siebte Solo-Studioalbum von John Lennon nach der Trennung der Beatles. Einschließlich der drei Avantgarde-Alben mit seiner Frau Yoko Ono, des Livealbums der Plastic Ono Band und des Kompilationsalbums ist es das insgesamt zwölfte John Lennons und das sechste mit Yoko Ono. Zugleich ist es ihr elftes Album. Es wurde am 17. November 1980 in Großbritannien und den Vereinigten Staaten veröffentlicht.

Drei Wochen nach Veröffentlichung wurde John Lennon vor seiner Wohnung in New York von Mark David Chapman ermordet. Nach seinem Tod stiegen die Verkaufszahlen des Albums, und es erreichte unter anderem in den USA und Großbritannien den ersten Platz der Hitparaden.

The best-selling single of his solo career, the lyrics encourage listeners to imagine a world of peace, beginning with living without religion and its concepts, without economic materialism, and without borders separating nations. Shortly before his death, Lennon said that much of the song's lyrics and content came from his wife, Yoko Ono, and in 2017, she received a co-writing credit.

‘Remember’ was the first song on side two of John Lennon’s début solo album. It was recorded on 9 October 1970, his 30th birthday.

The melody of ‘Remember’ was adapted from a Lennon composition called ‘Across The Great Water’, which went unrecorded in the studio but had been captured on film earlier in 1970. Once in the studio, however, the driving rhythms from Ringo Starr and Klaus Voormann turned the song into one of John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band’s most compelling rockers.

The song was inspired by the Primal Therapy that Lennon underwent during the summer of 1970 with Dr Arthur Janov. The lyrics referred to Lennon’s childhood and the disappointment he felt at his unstable family life, themes which the therapy had helped uncover.

John Lennon le autografió un ejemplar de este disco a Mark David Chapman el día en que este lo asesinó, el 8 de diciembre de 1980.
