This U.K. budget-priced Robert Palmer compilation offers up a nice selection of classics like "Addicted to Love," "Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)," "Woke Up Laughing," and "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On," but the lack of any Power Station cuts and the exclusion of one his biggest hits ("Simply Irresistible") keeps Icon from truly living up to its promise.

Palmer is backed by The Meters and Lowell George of Little Feat. Multiple reviewers have commented that Palmer sang confidently on this album, despite being backed by more accomplished musicians such as Lowell George, Art Neville and New Orleans singer-songwriter Allen Toussaint.

Rod Stewart followed the faux-disco trash of Blondes Have More Fun with Foolish Behaviour, which sanded out most of the character of the previous album. The result was a bland but professional -- even at their worst, Rod and his band are always professionals -- collection, mainly comprised of dance-oriented, lightly synthesized pop/rock. The passionless "Passion" was the hit, but the only worthwhile song was the gorgeous "Oh God, I Wish I Was Home Tonight," which has the clever wit and self-depreciating melancholy of his finest work.

In its simplest terms, Blondes Have More Fun is Rod Stewart's disco album, filled with pulsating rhythms and slick, synthesized textures. It's also his trashiest, most disposable album, filled with cheap come-ons and bad double entendres. Of course, that makes Blondes Have More Fun one of his most enjoyable records, even if all the pleasures are guilty.

Rod Stewart's sixth album was called Atlantic Crossing because the singer was literally crossing the Atlantic, making America his new home for reasons of the heart (he was fully enamored with actress Britt Ekland at the time) and the wallet (he was eager to escape Britain's restrictive tax rates).

"The Inevitable End" is Norwegian duo Röyksopp's fifth and supposedly final album, which is such a shame. Fittingly perhaps, the sound is brooding and melancholic with ambient washes, despite the odd raised tempo here and there on songs such as a reworking of "Monument" (which featured in a different version on their "Do It Again" EP with Robyn, who appears again on the moody ballad "Rong"), opening cut the vocoder-driven Daft Punk-esque "Skulls", the jittery "Save Me" featuring Susanne Sundfør, or "I Had This Thing" featuring Jamie Irrepressible.

It peaked at number 7 on the UK Albums Chart and number 2 on the Billboard 200, and has been certified platinum by the RIAA. In Canada, it reached number 1 on the RPM national albums chart. This album was the group's magnum opus in the perception of many onlookers and fans, and it still plays well, though its flaws are more evident than they were at the time. The "Song of Scheherazade," really a suite for the group supported by the London Symphony Orchestra and a chorus, started with guitarist-composer Michael Dunford, who had a personal fascination with the medieval literary work Tales of 1,001 Arabian Nights, and was realized by Dunford and his composing partner Betty Thatcher, with bassist Jon Camp and pianist John Tout.

"Catch the Rainbow" is a song by the band Rainbow, released on their debut album Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and live album On Stage. Although never released as a single, the song became one of Rainbow's greatest hits and is featured on all of their compilations. Melodically, the song resembles "Little Wing" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience[1] while the arrangement has many Pink Floyd influences. The lyrics also seem to be a continuing for "Little Wing" ("Soft and warm she'll touch my face, a bed of straw against the lace").

Песня Freedom Fries содержит критику президента Джорджа Буша и политики США после событий 11 сентября 2001 года. «Brother Ray» — короткая инструментальная композиция, посвящённая Рэю Чарльзу, который умер, когда шла запись альбома.
