Приятно, что при минимуме изменений в музыке чувствуется, что Shadows Fall потрудились на славу. Никаких откровений, никаких открытий, просто еще один замечательный альбом от одних из лидеров новой волны американского метала. Ну и что с того, что их много критикуют и многим они не нравятся? У группы есть свое звучание и они одни из тех, кто в свое время повлиял на популярный нынче металкор.

Что касается дебюта – то перед нами чуть наивный, плохо записанный, но, вместе с тем, искренний вампирический симфо-блэк металл с неизменным рычанием вокалиста, играющего роль чудовища; сходными с народными напевами малых народов крайнего севера России вскликами прекрасной девы и незамысловатыми гитарными рифами с попытками изобразить бластбиты.

Нет, ну эти товарищи просто не умеют мыслить стандартно, не умеют повторяться, никогда не опускают планку. Вот еще один ультракрасочный альбом с интенсивным функционированием всех уровней – композиторского, технического и черт знает каких еще. «Hangman’s Hymn» – вот так называется эта грандиозная авангардная заварушка. Название альбома в полной мере оправдывает его содержание – это всамделишные гимны, но, учитывая специфику группы, нетрудно догадаться, что они фирменно невыдержанные и в немалой степени раздолбайские. В этот раз мы имеем дело с быстрым и пафосным симфо-блэком, причем в этом симфонизме остаются отчетливыми и игривая гитарная составляющая, и драйвовые ударные. Альбом, однако, необычайно целен и монолитен для Sigh: буйство и непредсказуемость отражается главным образом в постоянно нарушающих инерцию звучания клавишных и непременно вмешивающихся всюду "странных" вокалах, смехе и т.д. и т.п.

«Праздник на крови» - полное соответствие формы и содержимого: как на обложке атлетически сложенный демон разрывает несчастную жертву, так и весь альбом представляется куском фарша и выливает ушат крови на голову слушателя. Краткая история работы такова: альбом был записан в 2000 году и переиздан в 2004 с добавлением двух бонус-трэков. Вычленить отдельные песни почти невозможно - все сливается в сплошное безумство из бластбитов, скоростного гитарного дуэта и соответствующего вокала (который немного напоминает первый альбом Suffocation).
