Новый альбом Zeromancer – норвежского дуэта по рождению и американского по факту проживания – типичный образец танцевальной поп-индастриал готики, где всего в меру: немножко хитов, немножко резкости и жестких гитарных риффов, немножко чувственности и сексуальности, на закуску немножко легкой грусти. Вот из этого всего понемножку и получилось… нет, не множко, а именно немножко: немножко интересно и ярко ("It Sounds Like Love (But It Looks Like Sex)" и "My Little Tragedy"), немножко трагично и грустно ("Ammonite") и немножко скучно с разной степенью зевоты (все остальное). То есть, как фон с неожиданными приятными всплесками (пара хитов для ночной дискотеки тут есть без всяких скидок) – очень неплохо, как что-то большее – это, извините, не к Zeromancer. Dope Stars Inc. по количеству драйва и качеству материала нокаутируют номинальных норвежцев раунде во втором.

Как следует из названия, «Book of Shadows II» – это продолжение альбома «Book of Shadows» (1996), который целиком и полностью состоит из акустических песен. Далеко не всем поклонникам тяжелого металла в общем и Black Label Socity в частности альбом придётся по душе: диск длится чуть больше часа, и периодически ощущается нехватка тяжести и плотности звука. Однако эта музыка, безусловно, обладает своим обаянием и шармом. На протяжении всего альбома Уайлд демонстрирует, что он не только виртуозный гитарист, а в первую очередь талантливый композитор, автор песен и вокалист. Да-да, поёт здесь Уайлд как никогда хорошо, и слушать его голос – сплошное удовольствие. А аранжировки песен создают тягучую, несколько тоскливую, пропитанную светлой грустью атмосферу.

In the 1970s, Roth and Ule W. Ritgen formed Black Angel in Hanover, and played together for a few years while attending university. After the band, which played music influenced by Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, etc., broke up in 1977, Ritgen played bass in Zeno's brother Uli Jon Roth's band Electric Sun, appearing on three of their albums. By 1980, Zeno Roth and Ule Ritgen were again working together, now playing in a more melodic style. They were joined by Michael Flexig on vocals, and the band was named Zeno.
