Veteran producer Tony Watts was behind this budget collection of George Formby's work, mostly from the 1930s -- which represented Formby's prime -- and the quality shows, in the good-quality transfers as well as a decent essay/overview of Formby's career. The selection is a good one, touching all of the expected bases ("The Window Cleaner," etc.), all astonishingly catchy novelty and music hall tunes, mostly with a double-entendre element.

Recording and performing together since the late '70s, Gene Bertoncini and Michael Moore once more undertake the daunting task of making a guitar-bass duet session attractive to listeners without being boring or maudlin. Like their earlier efforts, Two in Time successfully fills the bill. The interesting play list, with a balanced mix of slow and up-tempo tunes, contributes much to making this a satisfying session. The medley of "The Bad and the Beautiful" and "Laura," with most of the players' attention given to the latter, is intriguing in the way that it segues back and forth between Moore's dark, brooding bowing on "Laura" and Bertoncini's upbeat guitar. Moore also bows on "You've Changed" which is a highlight of his introspective but very lyrical approach to the music.

Жирный (но не вопиюще грязный – стерильность прежде всего!), приятный звук гитары, не менее отлично записанные ударные, с любовью и старанием исполненные вставки (как-то: влажное чавканье слизистой, хрип мокроты и вой сирены скорой помощи). Впрочем, у создателей было предостаточно времени, чтобы отшлифовать материал и звучание, старательно изваять каждую, даже самую незначительную мелочь на этом альбоме – с момента выхода последнего ЕР прошло ни много ни мало, 15 лет (!). Так что все идет прекрасно: гитарист исторгает ядовитые риффы и лихо закручивает сольные водовороты, ударник рассыпает сушеный горох бласт-битов или на пару с басистом нарезает основной ритм, не забывая про рокот бочек и перезвон «железок».

Turn It On Again: The Hits is a greatest hits album by British progressive rock/pop-rock band Genesis. The album was originally released as a single album on 26 October 1999 by Virgin Records in England and by Atlantic Records in the United States.

Following their 1991 We Can't Dance tour, Genesis released two live albums - Genesis Live: The Way We Walk Volume One: The Shorts and Genesis Live: The Way We Walk Volume Two: The Longs. While The Longs was aimed more at the long-term progressive fans, The Shorts was geared more toward the newer 'singles' fans.
I fit into the Longs category. Despite having great live versions of songs such as "No Son of Mine", "Mama", and "Hold on my Heart", this just doesn't do anything for me. I can pretty much do without the Invisible Touch tracks, and there's little of necessity to tracks such as "I Can't Dance" and "That's All". But i'll cut my losses now while i'm ahead. It is, after all, The Shorts, and if i didn't want to hear the shorts, i'd put in The Longs instead, no? Which i will do 10 times out of 10... all the reason i needed to part with this.
Fairly smart move, though... one live CD for the Invisible Touch Club, another for the progheads, and neither has to be bogged down by the 'other' Genesis.

12 лет беспробудного пьянства, дебошей и бог весть чего ещё состарили и научили участников анатомически-патологического ансамбля General Surgery не повторять ошибок молодости, поэтому перерыв между выпуском дебютника и второго творения “Corpus In Extremis: Analysing Necrocriticism” составил всего лишь три года (тогда как промежуток между выпуском ЕР и дебютника – одна дюжина годков, по тормознутости в плане реализации им только с Ion Disruption соревноваться, ей-богу). Извращённые лягушатники из Listenable Records не побоялись издать и второй полноформатник квинтета, не поскупившегося снова порадовать нас децибелами звукового мяса, нашпигованного кишками, скальпелями и просроченными медицинскими рецептами.

Один из лучших альбомов в power-speed метале. Абсолютно не к чему придраться. Когда я его слушаю, меня просто жутко прошибает ностальгия по старым добрым временам когда ГР еще не начали удаляться "куда-то в космос". Меня не очень радует что Кай вместе с ГР и Iron Savior начинает отходить немного от стиля. Этот альбом последний который "не космический" :) Начинается с диск с улетной Rebellion In Dreamland - моя любимая песня ГР, и одна из любимейших в музыке вообще. Все остальные песни все-таки не такие хитовые, но офигенно ровные. Особо хочу отметить заключительную Afterlife. По-первости она мне не очень покатила, но потом...просто убийственная вещь :) Она посвящена погибшему члену группы.

Представленный альбом — дебютный релиз группы, и, как это часто случается с дебютами, из всех их альбомов он самый немудрящий с точки зрения техники игры, плотности зука и т.п., однако самый душевный с точки зрения вложенных эмоций. Мелодичная, меланхоличная музыка (рискну применить термин atmospheric embient) с мужским и женским вокалом. Некоторые из рецензентов усмотрели в альбоме влияние Sisters of Mercy и Dreadful Shadows... может и так, но имхо Giants Causeway определённо легче чем Dreadful Shadows по звучанию и восприятию, так же как меланхолия легче депрессии.

Чем интересна данная голландская группировка – это разношерстностью мнений в их адрес. Есть немало фанатов, у кого в фаворитах числится «Erase», кто-то молиться готов на «False», есть обожатели позднего периода, даже на «Chapter 13» найдутся неровно дышащие. Я же под присягой готов восхвалять «Soul Survivor» и утверждать, что лучший альбом GOREFEST – именно он. Предыстория такова: все началось с заурядного дэза, который затем стал накапливать черты прогрессивности. Затем творческие изыскания музыкантов привнесли в него кучу мелодизма, что дало повод окрестить стиль группы вычурным словосочетанием death’n’roll.

Очень мощный готик-блэк металл, на 1995 год таких релизов не было вообще. Тяжелые риффы - не блэковые, а скорее даже готик-думовые по содержанию, но сыгранные очень тяжело и достаточно агрессивно - иногда разгоняются до блэкового темпа, иногда переходят в прекрасную атмосферную готческую музыку с не менее завораживающей ритмикой - без признака слащавости, но очень мелодично, между атмосферной - акустической и клавишной - и гитарной частью - полная гармония. Прибавьте к этому мощный, едкий, зловещий, низкий скриминг...
