"Fire Of Unknown Origin" даже удивляет своей свежестью, живостью и очень крепким, уверенным и разнообразным материалом. Проходных вещей практически нет, но самый сильный материал расположился на первой стороне виниловой пластинки. Открывающая альбом заглавная "Fire of Unknown Origin", написанная в соавторстве с Патти Смит, сразу задает боевой дух. Далее следует "Burnin' for You" - поп-рок-хит в лучшем проявлении - песня, которую вполне можно поставить в один ряд с великой "(Don't Fear) The Reaper".

Еще одна отличная, но недоценённая флоридская банда, принадлежащая к поколению next города Тампа, которая сыграла здесь тяжелую, медленную (но с бластами) и техничную музыку с плотными, по-настоящему дэтовыми риффами и кучей фирменных наворотов, эффектов (100% грохочущий гроулинг и грызущие подпевки, солячки, писки и т.п.) и лирическими отступлениями. Альбом звучит самобытно, интересно и свежо, темы замысловаты, нет той потрясной тупости, присущей большинству флоридцев. Кавер Black Sabbath «Electric funeral» только доказывает, насколько материал Brutality круче и многомернее

Альбом обладает грязноватым и слегка размытым, но весьма четким и читаемым звуком. Взяв за основу звучание “Twilight of the Gods”, Куортон понизил гитары, одновременно разогнав ритм-секцию до забойного темпа, которого не знали и первые альбомы Bathory. Манера вокала отныне представляет из себя хриплые вопли, упрятанные посреди новоявленного месилова, прошитого довольно жирным басом и хлестким стуком ударных. Кстати, выстукиваемый дуболомный ритм весьма примитивен, и подобное однообразие песням на пользу явно не пошло. Большинство риффов, несмотря на довольно низкое околодэтовое звучание, имеет типично трэшевое происхождение, и они редко переходят грань, очерчивающую рамки этого стиля.
